Are you a seasoned low-voltage professional with a passion for security systems and technology? At Communications Engineering Company (CEC), we're seeking a skilled Lead Installation Technician to take charge of installing and commissioning cutting-edge security, AV, and structured cabling solutions.
OBJECTIVE:
Lead the physical installation of communications systems on all assigned projects. Work alongside the project team to ensure safety and quality objectives are met by adhering to industry codes, standards, and best practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of AV, security, structured cabling, and other low-voltage systems.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project documentation to ensure accurate execution.
- Act as site lead, coordinating daily/weekly tasks and ensuring project milestones are met.
- Perform system commissioning, including calibration, programming, and end-user verification.
- Complete as-built drawings, test reports, and jobsite documentation.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by delivering professional, high-quality service.
- Enforce jobsite safety standards, PPE use, and compliance with OSHA/NEC regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for Tech I and Tech II employees on job sites.
- Assign and monitor tasks to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, supporting their technical and professional growth.
- Serve as acting supervisor when Project Managers or Field Supervisors are not present.
- Uphold CEC's standards for professionalism, safety, and customer service across the team.
Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of experience in low-voltage, audio-visual, or security system installation.
- Proven ability to lead field crews and manage day-to-day jobsite activities.
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling, AV integration, and/or security systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.
- Industry certifications (BICSI Installer II, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Axis, etc.) highly desirable.

- The employee is required to be able to climb ladders up to 12 feet high or be in a lift to extended heights.
- The duties of this job require the employee to effectively speak and understand English language communications.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
- Lifting of objects is required, up to 50lbs.
- Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities are also required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
